I know I've read about smoking a chuck roast on here before. I'm planning on doing one tomorrow. Should I use the 1 hour per pound rule of thumb like brisket?

Go to Kick A**'s web site - he'll give you complete instuctions on how to do it. I use his method and don't remmeber off the top of my head if it's an hour per lb. - I don't think it is.

I looked at his site. Some good info, but nothing about the time. Just wanted to try to get an estimate of time so I can plan the dinner. I guess I'll plan for about a hour a pound + 2 hours for resting. That way if it takes an hour longer, I will still have an hour resting time.

BILL THAT 250 SMOKER TEMP, SHOULD RESULT IN ONE HOUR PER LB TIME ZONE..CHUCK ROAST WILL BENEFIT FROM LONG ASSOCIATION WITH FAV DRY RUB, I RECCOMEND 24 HOURS WITH A LOW SALT RUB. CHUCK ROAST CAN ONLY BENEFIT FROM HIGH FLAVOR PROFILE AS THAT RECIPE SO APTLY DEMONSTRATES..

That's what I'm planning on. I usually tack a couple hours on for most of my cooks just for resting purposes and then if it takes a bit long, I still have some time to rest the meat. Billybones, i plan on calling to order some rubs soon. I met Purple Shadow a couple weeks ago and like the taste/flavor of your rubs!
