Hey All.....

Was recently at a steakhouse, it was a busy night and they had no more A1 left....they offered me some Heinz 57 and I took it. I've heard of it before, but never tried it....Once I did, I loved it....Anybody use this as a sauce base???? Or use it in their sauces???? I know I pretty much am late onto this train, but better late then never right.....thanks

I have a friend who makes a great BBQ sauce that uses Heinz 57 as a base. Everybody loves it but he says he is having a hard time lately finding the large bottles and when he does the price has gone way up. Good sauce though.

I've used it as a finishing sauce on chicken
and everybody loved it. I would like to know
why it's so exspensive would probably use it
a little more if it weren't for the price.
Little bottle goes for 4-5$.

Fellas, try the store brand of Heinz 57. It's not the exact same but dam.n close.

There is a clone recipe for this on http://www.topsecretrecipes.com. It is supposed to be fairly close. My wife LOVES Heinz 57 sauce and is rather bummed out if we eat steak out and the restaurant doesnt have it.

I really don't mean this as a slap towards anyone...

But I literally sat up and took notice when I read that you had never had H57 before.

I live in ATL, and we always have both H57 and A1 available with steaks.

Is H57 a regional condiment, and I didn't realize it...or had you just simply never tried it before?

Walmart has their generic copy-cat brand of it and it tastes exactly the same, I can't think of what it's called but it's on the shelf there with the 57.

No Brad, It is all over so far as I know. We have H-57 in every grocery store up here in Wash. And at most restaurants as well.

I've heard of it and seen it, but never had it..A1 is the big thing is steakhouses up here....A1 and high priced pan sauces....but thanks for the feeback....the first thing i actually thought when I tasted it was " this would be great mixed with some honey"....but for those chicken finishers, you just use straight heinz 57 and honey? seems like that would be great, just those two.
