I am going to be traveling off the KCBS circut to enter a little side competition. I have never competed here before so who knows but they have an anything but category. I was thinking about doing flank steak sliders with grilled onions on rolls. Can anyone suggest any other ideas for something creative and fun that might help the score?

I do love baked beans thats for sure. I have never entered or judged an anything but category so I am not sure what others turn in for this.

Thanks for the info Billy. It does sound mighty good. In the part of the world where I live this would require 50 in fuel to drive to where I could get those items too cook and there is no stores that sell that stuff between here and there. You accomplish at making me pretty darn hungry already. Yeller I didn't know if I was going to do a Philly or Sliders. I was wanting to do something gimicky like a homemade White Castle slider. Small Philly's could also work. I have never did an anything but category so I am going to take as much stuff as possible and see what I come up with.

OPPS CATCHING UP ON MY SLEEP . JUST IN FROM THE ROAD TRIP TO CINCINATTI AND HOLLAND, MI TULIP FESTIVAL. APPARANTLY THE NEW TURBO IS WORKING FINE BUT BODY STILL NEEDS A LI'L SLEEP . I ALWAYS LIKE TO SURPRISE WITH SMOKED DUCK. EASY TO DO WITH SIMPLE BLEND OF HERBS INSIDE AND OUT. TAKES TO LONG SLOW SMOKE (LOTS O FAT) AND A HIGH TEMP FINISH PRODUCES A TASTE THAT IS WONDERFUL AND SURPRISING TO MOST. DON'T TELL THEM ITS DUCK! I USUALLY TELL EM ITS MARSH RAT. BUT THE BRAVE MARVEL AT HOW MUCH IT TASTES LIKE CHICKEN.. HAHAHAH!!! TRI TIP IS EASIEST TO DO AND PRODUCES A WONDERFUL FLAVOR A SMALL 2-3 LBS PIECE CAN BE GRILLED OR SMOKED TO 125 INTERNAL . LET REST BRIEFLY AND SLICE . THE MARINADE IS THE SECRET.. I USE BEEFY PREPERATION WITH SWEET CREAM SHERRY AND LET ER SIT IN A ZIP LOCK AS LONG AS YOU HAVE TIME FOR . SPECIFICALLY RECCOMEND BEEFMASTER AND TRIPLE XXX FROM MY INVENTORY. NOTE...I ALWAYS TRY TO BUY CREAM SHERRY IN LARGEST BOTTLE AS MARINADE NEEDS NEARLY A CUP AND HARDLY LEAVES ANY FOR THE CHEF .. I KNOW YOUR STAR WILL SHINE WITH TRI-TIP ..
