My wife wanted to try a crock pot brisket recipe. She bought a packer at Walmart, cut 2/3 of the flat off for the recipe and froze the rest. It broke my heart to see it. Every time I look in the freezer for something to cook, I pass over this stumpy little thing, not knowing what to do with it.

I think I'm cooking brisket Memorial Day. Maybe I'll put this runt on the smoker with the normal packer. Anybody ever cook a "half packer" like this?

I usually use the point/deckle after I smoke it to grind it up and make chili from it. Go ahead and smoke it.

Lew -- I don't think that there should be a thing wrong with it. Inject it good with beef broth, season it, and cook as you would always do -- monitoring the temp as you go.
