NOWS THE TIME HERE IN THE NORTH TO MARK WILD BLACK CHERRY TREES FOR THE COMING HARVEST. CHERRY TREES ARE IN BLOOM AND GOOD TIME TO DISCOVER THE MATURE GIANTS THAT WILL YIELD SAP FILLED HEARTWOOD. WILD BLACK CHERRY , CHOKE CHERRY TO SOME, IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TO USE SMOKING PORK BUTT AND RIBS. THE HEARTWOOD OF A FIFTY YEAR OLD TREE IS NEARLY PERFECT FOR A RICH SWEET SMOKE. TROUBLE IS TREES THAT BIG SELDOM HAVE BLLOSSOMS IN THE SPRING THAT CAN BE SEEN FROM THE GROUND. I OFTEN TAKE A WALK IN THE WOODS LOOKING FOR WILD BURST OF SAPLINGS COVERED IN WHITE BLOOMS AND USUALLY THERE IS A MATURE TREE IN THE CENTER JUST WAITING FOR FELLING AND SEASONING .. USUALLY OVER WINTER WORKS FOR ME. HAPPY HUNTING AND BRING A SHARP AXE..
