Hello All!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! I have joined a civic organization and was wondering if anyone does charity cooks or sells BBQ for fundraisers? Does anyone know if you need a food license to do this? Any suggestions on this will greatly be appreciated! Hope everyone has a great holiday!!

You need to contact your local health dept they will give you all the info you need for your area.

I would agree it is very regional and varies from county to county even in the same state, so check with the local HD.

Let them know it is for a civic group , the rules change from state to state but most health dept. are not too tuff on civic groups. Just keep in mind that the health dept. is realy working for you and wanting to keep you and your products safe . I do alot of civic work the rewards are far above and beyond, so good luck and if you need any help drop us a line

SELLING TO THE PUBLIC USUALLY REQUIRES A FOOD HANDLERS LICENSE. I DO WORK FOR CHARITIES USING THEIR KITCHEN FACILITIES WHENEVER POSSIBLE. MY SMOKER SITTING OUTSIDE. SEEMS TO REGISTER WELL WITH LOCAL HEALTH DEPT AND DOESN'T REQUIRE A SEPERATE LICENSE.. HOWEVER IF SELLING IN LOCAL PARK FACILITY (WHICH WE DO A FEW TIMES EA YEAR) THEN THE BENEFITTING CHARITY BUYS THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE . I AM JUST THE HIRED HAND FOR THE DAY ..
