I wouldn't imagine NOLA to be among the bbq capitals as the few times I've gone there it's not been for the bbq . I'm sure there is a bbq place somewhere down there but can't say for sure since it was before Katrina last time I went. There's probably more seafood or cajun style type places. Jackson Square/French Qtr are where I spent most of my time

Guess seafood and cajun it will be. Before I get gumbo, will have to ask if it is made with Fille' or ocra

Thre was a place there called Zydeque back before Katrina. (2005)
The best that I remember was that it was a decent meal and a pretty nice restaurant.

You might give the Whole Hog Cafe a try.

While I have not eaten at the one in NOLA I have eaten at the original and two of the franchises. The original is a very good Q shop and the others I tried have been close to it.

You've got a pretty good list. I would also recommend Drago's for charbroiled oysters at the Hilton, Brennan's for brunch, Mother's for a Ferdi, Redfish Grill for a supper and Commander's Palace or Emeril's for a special occasion dinner. Mr. B's Bistro is a favorite of mine as well. I've never been to Cochon, but I have heard a lot about it and its on my list when I go down in September.

Only BBQ joint I have ever seen is a place called Voodoo Barbecue out by the airport. Never ate there, but its connected to a hotel and been open for a while.

If you happen to be in the French Quarter on a Tuesday through Saturday night, go check out Big Al Carson at the Funky Pirate on Bourbon. Great live band! They start at 8:30pm and play until...

Went to Cochon.. awesome... there is a cochon bakery right down the side block from cochon, if you don't want to eat a formal, sit down type meal... also walked over to Frenchman St , i think the name of it was, went to the Spotted Cat.. great New Orleans type jazz.. place was packed for a Tuesday night..

oh, an Stanleys for breakfast is a must

Just got back. One of the people I talked to was saying there is a place called "The Joint", we were going to go for lunch my last day there, but the line outside was too long to get back to my briefings in time to go. It is on the eastern side of NO off of St Bernards road. Wish I got to try it though.
