Has anybody else noticed this lately-for the last 5 months, all of the RO lump I've seen in the store and purchased has been the American stuff? No crap from Paraguay, Argentina, etc.

ALL I'VE EVER KNOWN OF ROYAL OAK WAS ITS CANADIAN ROOTS. ROYAL OAK DECIDED TO INVADE AMERICAN MARKET ABOUT 1990. THEY TOOK A GOOD LOOK AT EASTERN STATES BUSINESS, WHIH IS WHERE IN ENCOUNTERED THEM FOR FIRST TIME. MET A COUPLE OF THEIR CORPORATE EXECS AT BOSTON AND MANCHESTER RIB COOKOFFS AS THEY WERE SPONSORS AND VERY GOOD AT GETING MY PUSS ON THE T.V. AND IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS. nOTE: THE MANCHESTER LEADR GUARDIAN IS A TOUGH SELL.. HAHAHAH. THEY TOOK LIKING TO MY RETORT STYLE CHARCOAL AND WE BONDED OVER SOME CHARCOAL AND CANADIAN BONDED HOOCH. I NOW USE THEIR CHARCOAL UNDER THE GORDON FOOD SERVICE LABEL, HERE IN MICHIGAN..MY OLD RETORTS RUST AWAY IN A NORTHERN WOODLOT NEAR GRAYLING. SAD TO LOSE THAT COAL BUT ROYAL OAK IS GREAT SUBSTITUTE.I ALWAYS ASSUMED THEIR SOURCE TO BE CANADA AND POSSIBLY MISSOURI HERE IN THE STATES..

I've used Royal Oak lump for years. Went to a local barbecue competition a few years ago, Royal Oak supplied the lump and had reps on site - think they even entered a team. Had a few skids leftover and announced that they would sell for $4.00 for a 20 lb. bag. By the time I got to their site, I got 4 bags for $10 and bought 8 bags. Also had bought $5 worth of raffle tickets and won 4 more bags + a couple bottles of sauce and jars of rub. 240 lb. of RO lump for $15 - such a good deal!

I finally got rid of all gas BBQ's on my deck a couple years ago. Kingsford has always been the "go-to" in western Canada but I find the Royal Oak does a better job.
