Whenever the guys are hanging around, we usually end up talking about barbecue. Sooner or later, someone will say something and this one guy (we'll call him Bill) interrupts and says, "that's not the way Bob Smith (not his real name) and I do it." If anyone tells a story about a cook they did, Bill will always top it with a Bob Smith story.

Bob Smith is a great guy and he never brags about his Q (which isn't bad), but Bill thinks he is a barbecue god because he catered a luncheon once. To Bill, anything Bob says about barbecue is gospel and he does everything just like him. I hate to admit it, but it's starting to annoy me.

An example: A couple of us were talking about the high heat method for briskets. Bill cuts in and says briskets have to be cooked low and slow; that's the way he and Bob Smith do it.

This weekend, Bill is having a party and Bob Smith is cooking a couple of butts for the guests. The thought of hearing Bill rave about how good it is makes me not want to go.

I can't believe I'm letting it get to me.

Well, I was worried for nothing. Not as many RSVPs as expected so no bbq - just chicken, brats, & burgers. Great food and no chest thumping. A great time was had by all.

Being a master judge in 3 different associations and knowing that Big Orange Smoker and myself turn in as good or better than alot of the products that I judge I can get a good chuckle about what you said. I use Myron's phrase "Damn sorry a** judges" when we don't get calls. LMAO
