I went to the local farmers market last weekend for the first time and they had an amazing turn out. They even had a farmer their selling fresh locally raised beef and pork.... Seeing all of this has got me thinking about trying to set up to sell some bbq up....

Things that I cant decide on..

How should I sell it? Was thinking vaccumm sealing it in 1# portions and just having some samples that are hot and ready...

If I go that route would it be crazy to try and sell some frozen... That way if I dont sell it all this weekend I could freeze and try to sell the next weekend.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

BOS I checked the website and it looks like the same kind of stuff I have seen every else. 3 seperate washing stations, hand washing station, etc. It does say that no food sold for retail is to cooked in a residence...

I went to the farmers market again yesterday and noticed that nobody was adhering to these rules that I could see. And all of the items that were prepared elseware ie baked goods, were labeled saying that they had not been inspected by the health dept... Wondering if thats a loophole...

Our two local farmers market coordinators offer cheat sheets to help new vendors navigate the rules. I wonder if talking to the event coordinator for your farmers market would help.

Check with the local department of agriculture. In Georgia any processed food items must be prepared in an approved kitchen.
