 Rolf Zubler ‘retires’ as WBQA president
Dear barbecue friends:
With the birth of my son, Rolf Moritz, Jr., and the launch of a new long-term future project, I have to inform you that, after 15 years as president for the World Barbecue Association, a new person will take over this position.
With the foundation of WBQA on March 31, 1996, in Hotel Fischerzunft Schaffhausen, Switzerland, in companionship with Carolyn Wells and Donna Myers, my life took a rapid change in every way. In this time, I met so many wonderful, great, and honest people around the world, which did inspire me to do what I had to do — bring people together for the reason to make barbecue and to meet each other in friendship and positive intentions.

There were ups and downs on the way, but I would not want to miss one second of this time. Even the tough times of violence and hijacking actions against the idea were great and learning acts in my life, and in the end, they made us stronger and closer to each other. I did go ahead because of your loyalty and friendship through the years. For this I would like to give you my deep and cordial THANKS!
It was not easy to make the decision to hand over the honor title “President of the World Barbecue Association,” without this wonderful sound of “Whow” what is this? With this title, I received a lot of respect and influenced contacts worldwide. However, the decision had to be made, and who knows what it is good for?
The World Barbecue Association is recognized as a solid, world leading organization with clear goals and loyal partners.
The World Barbecue Association is in a positive growing breeze. This is the time to set new targets to achieve and to meet new people. The set of new cooperate rules will become closer to our best friends.
I will not be off the planet.

As the first president of the World Barbecue Association and founder, I will, if requested, remain as adviser in the background of the new president and stay available for special actions and support.
I personally thank you for your support and loyal companionship and ask you to give the next President, who will be voted on at the next President Convent on April 20th in Budapest, Hungary, the same support and honor as I have received from you in all this time.
I will introduce the new president, whoever he or she may be, worldwide to all the contacts of importance and good people we could work with, because the positive characters are a fundamental idea. Make people happy — let’s barbecue and make friends around the world.

Whoever finds the time to be in Budapest is most welcome and invited for the last good-bye meal.
PS: I will, if possible, see you as a participant at coming championships under the new world rules that will bring North America, Australia, and Europe closer together.
