At Barbecue News Magazine & NBBQA, barbecuing and grilling is our passion. We want to help the next generation of BBQ cooks, grillers, and chefs. Barbecue News Magazine & NBBQA is pleased to provide a scholarship to high school graduates and college students with a BBQ background. This contest-based scholarship is awarded to students in good academic standing and meets all the requirements. We will announce the winner on August 1, 2024, and the winner will receive money toward their school of higher education.



• Applicant must be enrolled or registered at a full-time culinary school, technical college, undergraduate, or graduate student at an accredited US college or university 2024-2025.

• Be a US citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

• Applicant must have a BBQ/ Grilling interest.

• All majors are welcome to apply.


• Submit a 750-word essay that centers around this year’s chosen topic.

• Topic: How has BBQ Impacted My Life

• Provide your full name and email address.

• School Name

• School Mailing Address

• Proof of Enrollment – Transcripts, tuition receipts, or acceptance letters will be accepted. Please submit as .jpeg, .pdf, or .doc.

• Please upload the essay as .pdf or .doc.

• Confirmation and acceptance of the terms and conditions


All applications must be submitted by July 20, 2024.


A winner will be selected and notified by email by August 1, 2024.

A panel of Barbecue News Magazine & NBBQA judges will choose the scholarship winner.

Terms & Conditions

By applying to this Scholarship Program, you certify that all the information you have provided is original, accurate, and complete. All submitted essays must be the origi-nal work of the applicant. Applicants may enter only one submission per student per year. Duplicate entries are not accepted. All scholarships are non-renewable.

As outlined in the Privacy Policy, once the applicant grants permission, Barbecue News Magazine & NBBQA have permission to:

• Use their name, photo, artwork, and award amount in announcements or articles (i.e., social media, newsletter, etc.) issued by Barbecue News Magazine & NBBQA.

• Post the applicant’s name, college or university, and the essay on the Barbecue News & NBBQA websites.

• Email information to the applicant regarding their application.

• Winners will be notified via email and announced publicly on Barbecue News & NBBQA social media pages.
