Pullin Premium BBQ to host 4th Annual Give Domestic Violence the Boot Dance and Cookoff to benefit The Harbor Children’s Alliance and Victim Center on September 27, 2025, in Port O’Connor, Texas.
Kathy Pullin, owner of Pullin Premium BBQ, will be hosting the 4th Annual Give Domestic Violence the Boot Dance and BBQ Cookoff for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The public is invited to join us on September 27, 2025, from 7 am to 5 pm for the Cookoff followed by a night of dinner and dancing from 6 pm to 11 pm with all proceeds going to The Harbor Children’s Alliance and Victim Center.
The Harbor Children’s Alliance and Victim Center is a non-profit organization (501C3) in Port Lavaca that provides supportive services to victims of domestic violence in Calhoun County. The Harbor has a team of dedicated staff and volunteers that provide 24-hour domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention, 24 hours hospital, law enforcement and criminal justice accompaniment, safety planning, legal advocacy services, counseling and information and referral services to victims. Currently there is no shelter in Calhoun County for victims of domestic violence so they must send clients to Victoria or Matagorda Counties; monies raised from this event will be utilized to secure a location where they would be able to house victims here in Calhoun County.
Executive Director, Maria Walton is excited to be partnering with Pullin Premium BBQ for this event again this year and raise money to help victims and not have to uproot them and their children. “Most victims do not want to go to a shelter because it is in another county and that can be a problem if they have a job here in town, and an even bigger problem is having to enroll their kids in a different school midway through the year, so having something local would be a big help for our clients,” says Walton.
The public is invited to join us. We will start the evening off with the reading of the Proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and move on to the dinner and dance. We will also have a silent auction and local vendors. The BBQ Cookoff will be held throughout the day. Donations are being accepted, and corporate sponsorships are available.
